Well, welcome back to the last installment of ‘how to create your WordPress website’. Previously, we have discussed the steps to setup WordPress and the methods to customize your website. In our last post, we have covered the two points to customize your WordPress website that’s dashboard and posts. So, now let’s study the other area which you can customize to create one dynamic and functional website.

#3. Media

You can include media files in your WordPress website as well to make it look attractive. You can use media files like images, videos, gifs, etc., to engage audiences. By simply clicking on the add new media, you can upload different types of media files. Moreover, WordPress offers numerous tools like resize, crop, etc.,

#4. Pages

You can add different types of pages to your site as well according to your design requirements. The pages can be created in a similar manner in which you have created the post by clicking on the add new page button. The same screen as posts will appear on which you can give title and content to your pages.

There isn’t any limit or feasible rule for how many numbers of pages you can create, but it is recommended by Google that every website must have; about us page, homepage, privacy and policy page. So, that search engine can understand your website properly.


The comment section shows the comments left by your website visitors on your blogs. You can manage comments manually or can set automatic setting. But, manually setting is preferred so that you can delete or post comments on your website after reading them.

#6. Appearance

This is the most important section where you can play your creative mind to design the appearance of your website. You will get forget options in this section such as;

Theme – You can install the theme for your website from this option. On WordPress, plenty of different paid and free themes are already present from which you can select your favorite theme. If you don’t get the perfect theme from already available themes, then you can customize one for yourself.
Widgets – Here you can add features to the header and footer of your website. You can show recent posts, search bar, archives, comments, tag cloud in the sidebar using these widgets.
Menu – You should create an informative menu so that your visitors can easily understand it. Mainly websites have two menus; primary and secondary menu.
Header & Background – This section takes you back to the main menu of your theme where you can customize header and background.

#7. Plugin

WordPress has plenty of different plugins to make your website functional and user-friendly. This feature of easy to install plugins makes this platform the first choice of the user. From WordPress store, you can install plenty of different paid and free plugins to manage your website.

#8. Users

Under this section, you can see all the registered users on your website. You can manage your users from this section easily.

#9. Tools

Using the WordPress tools, you can make your website more user-friendly and easy to operate. For instance, the tool “press this” lets you publish a post on any web page without going to “add new post” in the dashboard.

#10. Setting

This is the last section, where you can manage all sorts of settings related to your website. Such as site title, email id of your site, permalink structure, comment moderation, media upload size, etc.,
